GIG OF THE WEEK

Park Life

Live, 166 Matthews Meyiwa Road

This weekend, Durban is in for a treat as the wild and wonderful crew of Park Life have migrated their wicked show over to Live – the Venue at 166 Matthews Meyiwa (Stamford Hill) Road.

Park Life (the brainchild of Dakin Auret and Coco Loco) will take place on the first Friday of every month and will see them fly in the best local and international electronic artists to the shores of Durban.

The first party will take place tonight and will be headlined by popular Durban electronic live |duo Seake, known for their live performances of disco-infused psycho gypsy pop and mind-stomping terror-jazz, as well as globe-trotting creative genius Floyd Lavine from Cape Town. In late 2006, two young upstart producers, Malcolm Blake and Luke Searson, embarked on a campaign of audio exploration – forming a two-man, half-biscuit electronic circus called Seake as the outlet for their creative juices.

Armed to the teeth with a healthy curiosity, an assortment of gadgets, gizmos, doohickeys and a few bottles of Sedgewicks Old Brown Sherry, their quirky productions have begun breaking the shackles of the South African electronic dance community.

Seake and Lavine will be supported by the local Wild Bunch of DJs, Dakin Auret, Coco Loco, Kingpin and Bhashkar.

• Tickets are selling at R50 and the party starts at 8pm at Live – the venue. For info, call Bronwyn on 031 303 9481 or e-mail [email protected] – Tonight Reporter
