 Cops find 21 stolen cars in Western Cape

Twenty-one stolen cars were impounded in various places in the Western Cape over the long weekend and 11 people arrested, police said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Captain Elliot Sinyangana said detectives in the vehicle unit went on a joint effort to track stolen cars.

In the Khayelitsha area alone eight stolen vehicles were recovered with eight men aged between 21 and 42 arrested.

They were all due to appear in the Khayelitsha magistrate's court on Tuesday.

Other cars were recovered in Nyanga, Guguletu and Grassy Park.

Three men were arrested for car theft in Claremont and would appear in the Wynberg magistrate's court on Tuesday.

The recovered vehicles were impounded in Bellville South and in Stikland where stolen and recovered cars were kept until they could be returned to their owners.
