North West police were searching on Wednesday for four women in Rustenburg said to be targeting male hitch-hikers and raping them.

Constable Botshelo Mothutsane said the women reportedly offer lifts to male hitch-hikers, force them to drink some sort of spiked juice at gunpoint and then rape them.

"They then rob the men and leave them in an isolated area," Mothutsane added.

On Monday a man awoke to find himself stranded and naked in Phokeng after he was given a lift. He was allegedly raped and robbed of R3700.

Mothutsane said a case of rape and armed robbery was being investigated. Similar cases have been reported in recent months in Rustenburg. - Sapa
