Thousands of POPCRU members have started celebrating the 20th anniversary of their organisation at Seisa Ramabodu stadium in Bloemfontein, the SABC reported on Saturday.

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union was formed on November 5, 1989, in a house at Strand in the Western Cape.

The theme for the celebration is 20 years of advancing the working class struggle within the justice clusters.

Police Deputy Minister, Fikile Mbalula and Cosatu's General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi were expected to give messages of support.

POPCRU president, Zizamele Cebekhulu is also expected to deliver a key note address. - Sapa
