Passengers travelling to Cape Town used the new central terminal building's consolidated check-in area for the first time on Saturday, ACSA spokeswoman, Diedre Hendricks.
The new terminal building is five-storeys high and combines the check-in process for both international and domestic passengers. The building which cost R1,6-billion comprises of 120 check-in counters, 20 self service check-in machines and a consolidated security screening point.
"Over the past few months the airport team has worked hard to ensure a smooth transition from the old terminal to the new one," said Hendricks, adding that the transition had been possible with the co-operation and team work of all stakeholders.
