The outcry against the botching of the South African national anthem has reached cyberspace, with groups and discussions popping up on social networking sites.

By early on Monday, 102 people had become fans of a Facebook page entitled "Ban Ras Dumisani From Ever Singing Again". One user commented banning Alexius "Ras" Dumisani was too "light a punishment".

Dumisani shot into the spotlight this weekend, for all the wrong reasons, with his butchered rendition of the South African national anthem which left those at the Toulouse stadium laughing and fans at home shocked.

The Springboks later lost the Test match against France 20-13.

Facebook users were unapologetic in their scathing attacks on Dumisani, calling him a "piece of s**t" and other colourful expletives.

On the SA Rugby group page, a user commented he couldn't decide which had been worse - the singing or the playing by the Springboks. He added: "What a insult to all South Africans."
Some suggested where Dumisani should go or what he could do to himself.

One user said he had made contact with Dumisani on Facebook. The user posted Dumisani's response: "My brethren, that was big politics. Not that I couldn't sing (but I) didn't have the sound on my microphone. That put me out. The French anthem have(sic) full volume. Even the Springboks, things was not easy for them with penalties. Rastafari is love."

What a disgrace to our beautiful anthem!!! It must be the fault of apartheid, colonialism, racism, poverty, bantu education, the whites, etc etc etc. I'm ashamed and it sounds as though he just decided to do his own thing. What an embarrasment!!!

FRANCE NOT RESPONSIBLE!!!! "The outrage and controversy from the South African anthem sung in Toulouse, which the Springboks were so incensed about they declined to talk about the match itself, appears to be the fault of their own French based embassy. The South African anthem, Nkosi Sikelel iAfrica, was sung by the Rastafarian singer, Ras Dumisani, backed by two drummers of his Afrikhaya Band."

Comments like 'Shame on you France" really are showing how ignorant poeple are. The singer has been chosen by someone from the South african ambassee so blame your own poeple please. You show disrespect by not getting informed and accusing.

Useless defenders of democracy and our beautiful country..!
