Teachers from a Nongoma, Zululand, high school have abandoned their classes and exams after pupils went on a rampage last week.

The KwaZiphethe Sivananda High School pupils had been venting their anger against a senior school official.

The pupils vandalised and trashed the official's office.

On Tuesday, teachers said that grade nine exams and the marking of internal exam scripts had been abandoned. They said they would not return to the school until they felt safe.
