They came in their droves both young and old to catch a glimpse of their superstars. But not the film or music stars that one would expect.
Instead Capetonians braved the cold to see the world's best entertaiment wrestlers battle it out in the World Wrestling Entertainment Summer Slam Tour at the Bellville Velodrome Wednesday night.
The arena was filled to capacity with 6 000 fans who had come to watch their WWE RAW favourites.
The line-up for the event, which was sold out within a week of tickets going on sale in June, included Jeff Hardy, Carlito, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch and WWE women's champion Candice Michelle.

The show stopping match at last night's event was the WWE Championship bout between John Cena and Randy Orton.
Cena was there to defend his title and entered the arena to the chants of his supporters.
His fans jumped to their feet as they caught the first glimpse of their hero and raised their thumb and small finger in Cena's signature greeting.
The crowd was on its feet throughout the grand finale and in pure WWE entertainment style, Orton attempted to "quit" during the match.
He tried walking out but Cena ran after him, throwing him back into the ring to the applause of the thrilled crowd.
While Orton managed to gain the upper hand at times, slamming Cena into the steel steps at ringside, the champ persevered and retained his title.
The tour moves to West-ridge Park Stadium in Durban on Thursday, and then on to the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg on Friday.
