Boxes full of ammunition were recovered in Durban's Springfield Park area on Friday afternoon, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

"Police have found a truck full of different types of ammunition," said Director Phindile Radebe.

"People have been arrested and we are busy counting the boxes. We will issue a statement once we have finished counting," she said.

Police officers at the scene said they believed the boxes of ammunition, which included R5 and shotgun ammunition, were from a factory in Pretoria. - Sapa
