New England rugby coach Martin Johnson is facing a strike by his leading players over pay.
A day after Johnson announced his first squad for the two Test matches against the All Blacks, the Daily Telegraph has learned that England's senior players were involved in a contract dispute.
Rob Andrew, the RFU's director of rugby and stand-in manager for the tour, is to meet representatives of the players on Thursday.
England players are paid ?9 000 (R130 000 ) per game regardless of the result. However, under a new deal, players would be paid a far smaller flat fee and the rest would be win and performance bonuses.

The players said the introduction of performance-related payments called their integrity into doubt. The honour and achievement that was deserving of reward was earning selection by England, they said. - Sapa
