Daegu, South Korea - Authorities in Daegu have agreed to suspend shoplifting charges against Senegal midfielder Khalilou Fadiga, domestic media reports said on Wednesday.

Police had charged Fadiga with stealing a gold necklace worth about 300 000 Korean Won (R2 250) from a jewelry store in Daegu.

"We decided not to indict him since the damage was not so serious and the shopkeeper doesn't want to punish him," the local prosecutor was by the Korea herald as saying.

Fadiga was never arrested by police but was the subject of an investigation. He was a key part of Senegal's shocking 1-0 win over defending champion France in the tournament opener.
