Sundowns coach Angel Cappa has revealed that striker Raphael Chukwu and midfielder Tebogo Mokoena top the list of players to be placed on transfer as the Brazilians trim their squad for the new Premier League season. The contract of neither player has been renewed.

Former Bafana Bafana striker Simba Marumo has already been sold to Moroka Swallows.

The recent career of the once-feared Chukwu has been dogged by injuries while Mokoena appeared to lose his sharpness last season.

Also transfer bound are defender Sashi Chalwe, midfielder Gabriel Mofokeng, striker Rotson Kilambe.

Mofokeng is expected to move to Bush Bucks, where he impressed during a loan spell last season while Kilambe may head north to Limpopo-based Dynamos, who have confirmed their interest in the burly striker. Little is known about the plans of the once highly rated Chalwe, whose imminent departure may come as a surprise to many fans.

Sundowns' technical support manager Daniel Mudau has also revealed that Sipho Nunens, Joseph Mthombeni, Prince Zulu and Lucas Sebona will be leaving in loan deals with other Premiership clubs to enable them to regain their best form.

The most eagerly awaited acquisitions are those of the Venezuelan duo of playmaker Vincente Principiano and striker Jose Torrealba

Meanwhile, Sundowns defender Craig Bianchi has been invited to join a makeshift Bafana Bafana squad assembled to take part in the Concacaf Cup tournament in the United States after most Premiership teams refused to release their top players, citing hectic schedules as their reason.

The full Bafana Bafana squad is expected to be announce on Thursday at a media briefing at the South African Football Association head offices in Johannesburg.

  • By late Wednesday, Sundowns were still holding onto their lead in the voting for the Telkom Charity Cup with a total of 28 045 votes while Bloemfontein Celtic emerged from nowhere to dislodge Orlando Pirates in second spot with 22 040.

The third spot was still occupied by Black Leopards with 19 420 ahead of Orlando Pirates who were fourth with 16 663.
