Coach of defending champions SuperSport United Gavin Hunt is not counting any chickens just yet despite his side opening up a seven point gap at the top of the Absa Premiership over second-placed Ajax Cape Town when they thumped Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 in a tense clash played at Loftus on Wednesday night.

Hunt is not getting carried away just yet.

"There is still a long way to go. We still have 13 matches before completing the league so we are keeping our feet on the ground. But, having said that, we are in a good position."

Hunt has set his players a target of 11 points from their remaining seven fixtures in 2009. He also sees third-placed Santos as United's main threat to winning a hat-trick of back-to-back Premiership titles this season.

'We still have 13 matches before completing the league'
Santos drew 1-1 against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in their Wednesday clash. "But," said Hunt, "I rate Santos highly. They are top notch at home in Cape Town and have shown they can win on the road. To me they are the biggest danger."

But Hunt also rates neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns as the dark horses in the league race after they defeated title chasing Orlando Pirates 2-0 at the Super Stadium across Pretoria in their Wednesday clash.

"Sundowns have the best squad in the league and are capable of putting a strong run together."

Hunt said his side did not play well especially in the first half against Chiefs.

"We were poor in the first 45 minutes and created little. But after halftime we improved. But I do not care how badly we play as long as we keep collecting the points. All that matters to me is accumulating points."

Hunt was diplomatic about the goal his side scored in the 29th minute which referee Faiek Daniels disallowed.

"It was a strange decision but I will let it go. But I would not have been happy if we (lost)."

Chiefs are virtually out of contention and coach Vladimir Vermezovic admitted as much afterwards.
