Copenhagen - The Danish navy says two freight ships have collided in the waterway between Denmark and southern Sweden.

Navy spokesperson Pernille Kroer says the Maltese-registered Captain Lus was listing in the Oresund Strait while attempting to leave the Baltic Sea and reach port.

Kroer says the Maltese cargo ship collided with Norway-registered tanker Sundstraum. The Norwegian ship was southbound and carrying methanol.

No one was injured in the Friday's collision off Taarnby, south of Copenhagen, and there were no reports of oil pollution.

The cause of the collision was not immediately clear. The weather at the time was clear. - Sapa-AP
