Washington - A truck driver, only months from retirement, turned a into humble hero on Friday, a day after his call led police to two suspects in a series of Washington-area sniper shootings.
Ron Lantz, on his regular run between Cincinnati, Ohio and Wilmington, Delaware, called police early on Thursday to say that a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice like one authorities were looking for was parked at a highway rest stop northwest of Washington.
He and another trucker waited for the police, accompanied by hundreds of federal agents, to arrive and arrest the two men.
"It was a long 15 minutes," Lantz told NBC news.

A reward of $500 000 (about R5-million) has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the snipers, but Lantz said he would share any money with the families of victims.
"I've had thoughts about it, I talked to my wife about it and she said we shouldn't get no reward because we got somebody off the street so they couldn't hurt somebody else," he said.
"If I get the money, the families of the victims will be reimbursed for what they've lost, part of it anyway."
