Zagreb - Croatian archaeologists have discovered an Iron Age grave dating back to 700 years BC, the official news agency HINA reported on Sunday evening.

The report said an urn with several artifacts, including axes and jewellery, was discovered at the mountain of Papuk, about 150km east of the capital Zagreb.

"We have a discovered a part of history which tells us that warrior tribes lived here 2 700 years ago," archaeologist Hrvoje Potrebica from the Zagreb Archaeological Museum told HINA.

Potrebica said the team also discovered ancient seeds in a grave. He described the discovery of the seeds as "very important", adding they were sent to the United States to be analysed. - Sapa-DPA
