Sydney - The Free State Cheetahs management has made wholesale changes to their starting line-up to face the Waratahs in a Super 14 match in Sydney on Friday, with the introduction of Keith Lowen the most prominent.

The former All Black centre will be making his first appearance of the season for the Cheetahs.

In another significant change, Willem de Waal replaces Meyer Bosman at flyhalf while left wing Sinethemba Zweni steps up in the place of Gaffie du Toit, and Giscard Pieters returns to the number 14 jersey at the expense of Eddie Fredericks.

The Cheetahs, coming off a narrow win over the Reds, and lying in sixth spot, will be looking to squad rotation as a means of settling in on their gruelling month-long trip.

Both forwards played their hearts out against the Reds
With an injury to captain Juan Smith, Erasmus needs wise heads out there so Os Du Randt retains his spot, as does Ollie le Roux on the bench. Both forwards played their hearts out against the Reds and could cause mayhem in the Waratah's front-row and fringes defence.

Captain Ryno van der Merwe moves from No 8 to open-side flank, giving Kabamba Floors a rest, with Frans Viljoen operating from the base of the scrum and Ockie van Zyl at blindside.

Flyhalf Matt Rogers is an injury concern for the Waratahs ahead of the clash.

Bevin Fortuin, Giscard Pieters, Ronnie Cooke, Keith Lowen, Sinethemba Zweni, Willem de Waal, Michael Claassens, Frans Viljoen, Ockie van Zyl, Ryno van der Merwe (captain), Barend Pieterse, Corniel van Zyl, Jannie du Plessis, Tiaan Liebenberg, Os du Randt.
