Rome - The wife of controversial Zambian Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo went to St Peter's Square in a wheelchair on the fifth day of a hunger strike on Sunday and prayed to be reunited with her husband.
"She can no longer stand up and went to pray outside the Vatican Basilica in a wheelchair," said South Korean ambassador Yang Il-bae, who has been mediating between Milingo's Korean wife, Maria Sung, and the Vatican, which bans Catholic clergy from marrying.
Sung launched a hunger strike on Tuesday to press demands to see her husband after the Vatican said Milingo had decided to leave her.

"It's up to the Vatican to make a decision and give her an answer," the ambassador said.
He earlier hinted that the Vatican might agree to a meeting between Milingo and his wife within the next few days.
"I hope that within the week, something will come up," he said. But there was no word from the Vatican.
