Seven armed men robbed the Ridge Casino in Witbank of an undisclosed amount of money, Mpumalanga police said on Monday.

Superintendent Abie Khoabane said the robbers stormed into the casino on Sunday and held up staff.

The robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

"They fired shots randomly once outside the casino," said Khoabane.

A security guard was injured when the assailants fled the scene. He was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition. Police were immediately called to the scene and staff and guests received counseling from a Victim Support Counselor.

There had been no arrests.
