Isn't it quite nice just to laze around sometimes? Well, that's exactly what I did yesterday. With us only playing tomorrow, Mickey gave us the day off. Maybe he thought seeing that we played on Heritage Day, we should take our public holiday the next day.
Just kidding, we usually get a day off somewhere in a tournament and yesterday was the most viable. Sometimes I get up and do something interesting with my girlfriend Sue, like the last time we were in Joburg, we visited the zoo. That was really cool.
But yesterday I just took some time out to recharge. The squad gathered in the late afternoon for a team gym session where we had a core stability workout. The way the tournament is structured, we don't have much time to see the bright lights of Joburg.

A good supper at nearby restaurant has become the height of our social activities. Last night, some of the boys joined by their partners, caught a bite in Sandton. It's quite nice when the Proteas "family" gets together because all the girls get on really well. I know Sue enjoys their company, especially when we are away on long tours.
The tournament is now almost a week old, and it has been quite interesting to see the marked difference between the pitches at the two venues.
Centurion - where we play all our games – has turned appreciably and offered the spin bowlers great assistance.
The Wanderers, however, appears to be a seamers paradise, with the ball swinging around like a boomerang. England, who we play tomorrow, even caused an upset victory over Sri Lanka, which I can imagine not many people were expecting after Sri Lanka thrashed us in the opening game.
England's victory has thrown our group wide open and we know we will have to put in another good performance tomorrow to ensure we qualify for the semis.
We are going to have a net at Old Edwardians Cricket Club today, before rushing home to catch the India-Pakistan match on telly. Whenever these two teams play it is such a huge spectacle, you cannot afford to miss it.
Until tomorrow,
