Madrid - A man in his 30s was gored to death during a bull run in the eastern Spanish town of Massamagrell, local officials said Sunday.

A bull knocked the man to the ground and struck him in the stomach and thigh with a horn, piercing an artery, during the event on Saturday night, local police said.

He was rushed to hospital where he died while undergoing surgery to treat his injuries, a spokesman for the local municipality said.

Massamagrell interrupted it annual festival in a sign of mourning.
