The City of Cape Town says it would need R10-billion every year for the next five years in order to provide formal housing for all people living in backyards or in informal settlements around the city.

Shehaam Sims, mayoral committee member for housing said the council had set aside R663-million for this financial year to deliver about 8 000 homes, serviced sites and in-situ upgrades of informal settlements.

The only way to steal from the Treasury is by allocating BIG contracts to your friends and relatives. Arms deal crimes, the "Travelgate" crimes, "Oilgate" crimes, etc. How else do u explain the lack of prosecution for wastefull expenditure or fraud when we have this great Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) ???

Somebody said people in western cape wished they were in Europe, now I believe him. Guys western cape is in South Africa and will always be part of it. If U can not move around South Africa because of your little comforts, you are lost.I am an African and South Africa belongs to Africans( Coloureds, Indians Chinies, Whites and the rest). Yes I do not support the fact that the ANC has spend such a lot of money in such a STUPID way but that does not mean those who voted it can not stay in western cape. And by the way South Africa is not a one-party state.

The housing crisis has been caused by the migration of people leaving the ANC controlled Eastern Cape to come to the DA controlled Western Cape. If they want ANC they should remain in the Eastern Cape and hold their people and ANC to account. They come to the Western Cape, and vote ANC, why? I did research on the internet and that for every R100 the people of the Western cape pay towards tax, only a quarter of it is used in the Western cape, whereas the rest is all sent to the Eastern Cape. Sorry, but the time has come for the Western cape to succeed from South Africa.

Well The ANC has spent almost R400 Million on parties and luxury vehicles in the last 6 months. They seem to know where to find the money so ask them.
