Traffic along a number of streets in Johannesburg's CBD was being diverted on Friday, due to a Public Servants Association (PSA) march, a spokesperson said.

Johannesburg metro police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said the march started in Bree Street at midday.

"About 100 people from the PSA are marching but we aren't closing any of the streets," he said.

The march would proceed along Eloff, Market, Joubert, Fox, Sauer, Commissioner, Ntemi Piliso and Jeppe streets.

It could be expected to be finished by 2pm, he said.

More than 200 000 members of the PSA, nation-wide, went on strike on Thursday after they rejected government's 6.5 percent salary increase.
