A 19-year-old man was shot dead in his home allegedly by a neighbour in the Shayamoya area of Kwambonambi, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Monday.

Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said the neighbour had an argument with the young man earlier on Sunday.

The neighbour returned to the man's house in the evening and knocked on his door. When the man responded by opening the door, the neighbour allegedly shot him three times before he fled.

The neighbour's wife told the police that her husband came home shortly after the incident and packed his clothes before he fled. She did not know where he had gone.
