The Premier Soccer League continued to send out a strong message that fans invading pitches will not be tolerated.
The PSL disciplinary committee on Tuesday night fined Mamelodi Sundowns R200 000 wholly suspended for 12 months after the Brazilians were found guilty on charges their supporters attempted to break down a gate in order to invade the playing field and vent their anger on former coach, Frenchman Henri Michel, after Downs were beaten 1-0 by Platinum Stars in the second round of the Nedbank Cup in March at Atteridgeville's Super Stadium.
The unpopular Michel resigned the follow day and was replaced by caretaker coach Ted Dumitru.

This follows a recent R250 000 fine meted out to Bloemfontein Celtic when late arriving fans tried to barge into the Welkom Stadium and caused the match against Golden Arrows to start 10 minutes late, and then forced the officials to temporary halt the game midway through the first half for fear of supporters getting injured.
The game continued after officials brought in extra security and managed to get what could have been a dangerous situation under control.
Orlando Pirates were also fined R200 000 when their fans ran onto the pitch after they had beaten Sundowns in a league fixture played at Ellis Park in March.
Said PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu: "The fine on all three clubs has been suspended. We believe it will be a significant deterrent and they will in future control their fans. We believe all three fines are stiff as one incident means that not only will the suspended fine come into operation, but the club will receive an additional fine on top of the suspended fine should they be found guilty of a similar incident in the next 12 months.
Sundowns were also ordered to play the costs of the hearing which is about R21 000. - Sapa
