 Girl drowns trying to cross river

A 15-year-old girl has drowned in the Elliot river near Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said the girl was trying to cross the river on Tuesday afternoon. Her body was recovered later the same day.

It was not known where she was headed, said Fatyela. - Sapa
