Three Walter Sisulu University students have been arrested after allegedly being found with 5kg of dagga.

The Eastern Cape police said the students were thought to have been growing the dagga at their home in Butterworth.

A police spokesman, Captain Jackson Manatha, said the police had also made two unrelated arrests in connection with the discovery of pirated CDs during raids on Wednesday.

In the first raid a man had about R250 000 worth of pirated gospel CDs, and in the second a woman was fined R1000 for being in possession of some copied CDs.

The students are to appear in court on Thursday, as is the man arrested with the CDs. - Sapa
