A woman was allegedly killed by a bakkie while crossing the KwaMashu highway on Wednesday morning, paramedics said.

"It is thought that the woman had been midway across the Durban-bound lane when she was struck by the bakkie," said Netcare 911's Jeff Wicks.

Paramedics found the woman trapped beneath the car, he said.

"Netcare 911 advanced life support paramedic team arrived at the scene to find that the woman had unfortunately died as a result of her injuries. She was still pinned beneath the bakkie," he said. -
