Worcester police are acting on all information they receive in order to find out the whereabouts of 20-month-old Mara-thino Christiaan Ohlsson, who went missing from his grandmother's home three weeks ago.

Ohlsson was left alone by his grandmother, Betty Hendricks, while he was asleep in her two-bedroom home in Die Eilande Farm in Botha's Halt, while she went to a next door neighbour. On her return, the back door was open and Ohlsson was no longer on the bed.

Worcester police spokesman, Mzwandile Moloi said: "The incident took place at about 11.45am, and at this stage, we have opened an inquest docket."

Moloi said Ohlsson's parents who claimed they were at work at the time of the incident had passed a detector test and were now no longer suspects in the case.

Ohlsson's mother, Christa Ohlsson, 32, who kept on repeating how confused she was about the whole matter said she did not feel good and was constantly worrying about "Thino" and whether he was safe.

"I always leave him with my mother-in-law when I go to work, that is nothing new... this place (Die Eilande Farm) is always quiet and things like these seldom happen," said Christa.

She described her only child as active and always willing to play.

A search team was dispatched on Friday morning consisting of nine divers and police dogs. The divers searched potholes and dams while the dogs sniffed around the farm, for clues, but both came up with nothing.

Ohlsson had been wearing a blue and red long sleeve T-shirt and brown and black three quarter army trousers.

Anyone with information can contact investigating officer Mzwandile Moloi on 082 411 3064 or the Worcester police station on 023 348 6100.
