A wanted hijacker and armed robbery suspect, who is out on bail for a string of hijackings, house robberies and a cash-in-transit attack in Gauteng and Limpopo, was caught along with two others after a car chase and shoot-out with Pretoria police.
The chase, which saw the gunmen racing between oncoming traffic, began after the suspect and his accomplices spotted undercover police from the Sinoville task team staking out their hideout in Montana yesterday.
The three were returning to their hideout in an upmarket security estate in Klippan Road when they spotted the officers sitting in an unmarked car.

Racing off as police gave chase, the three drove into Zambezi Drive and headed towards the N1, swerving between cars before making a U-turn at the Moloto Road intersection and driving off back towards Sinoville, shooting at police, who shot back.
As they drove past Builders Warehouse in Zambezi Drive, the men turned into the forecourt of a Shell Garage where they made another U-turn, narrowly missing pedestrians and motorists before they raced out against oncoming traffic.
The driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a police car.
The force of the impact saw the suspects' car land on top of the police car's bonnet.
The gunmen were arrested before they could run away.
As the suspects lay handcuffed on the ground with their feet in leg irons, police searched their getaway car while onlookers gathered around, many praising the police for the arrests.
Police said one of the suspects was wanted for a spate of crimes across Gauteng and Limpopo.
A policeman said the wanted suspect was out on bail for a cash-in-transit heist in Polokwane and at least five house robberies and hijackings in Centurion, Garsfontein, Sunnyside and Sinoville.
