The second half of the domestic Premiership season will get underway this weekend and the Cape sides are in a very good position to push for the title in 2009.
The league has been squeezed into a shorter period of time in 2009 to accommodate Bafana Bafana's preparations for the 2010 World Cup on home soil, so it was important to start well. Ajax and Santos have done that so far.
Ajax are second, two points behind SuperSport United, while Santos are three points behind the champions in third. The so-called "big three" teams, Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, are behind the pace-setters and fighting to stay in the race.

Santos walloped Chiefs 3-0 at the EPRU Stadium Santos will take on Chiefs at Port Elizabeth's Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday night. The game was moved from Coetzenburg because the stadium was deemed too small to host the Amakhosi.
