Port-Au-Prince - At least six people died in Haiti on Friday after a UN plane carrying 10 passengers crashed close to the capital, police said.
The plane plunged as it approached the municipality of Ganthier, police officer Cadostin Marc-Andre, noting the bodies were found at the crash site.
Most of the plane's occupants were military officers whose nationality was unknown, he added.
At United Nations headquarters, spokeswoman Vannina Maestracci confirmed, citing sources at the UN mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), that a military plane crashed west of Fonds-Verrettes near the border with the Dominican Republic.
She said she had no word on casualties but said the plane belonged to the Uruguayan contingent of MINUSTAH.
