Former Mother City soccer boss Brian Ebden was refused summary judgment against soccer star Thembinkosi "Terror" Fanteni for the payment of R870 000 in alleged outstanding management fees.
Ebden applied for summary judgment against Fanteni last week, but the 25-year-old Orlando Pirates striker disputed the claim. The Western Cape High Court this week granted Fanteni leave to defend Ebden's court action.
Fanteni denied the claim that Ebden became his manager after he was transferred from Mother City Football Club to Ajax Cape Town in 2005.
He disputed the "purported" management contract for a five-year period until 2010, or that he owed Ebden 10 percent commission on all his club transfer and sign-on fees, remuneration and endorsements.

Fanteni has since played for a club in Tel Aviv, Israel, and for the Bafana Bafana squad.
Opposing Ebden's claim, Fanteni said he was under 21 when he and his sister signed a contract with Ebden, which they were not given an opportunity to read.
Ebden famously accused Sir Alex Ferguson in 2002 of groping his girlfriend Nadia Abrahams during a visit to Cape Town, and sold the story to a UK tabloid for R1 million.
It has been reported that Ebden faced a number of legal woes in the past few years.
