Rome - The first of five European exhibitions devoted to the works of the Italian artist and engineer Leonardo da Vinci opened on Monday in Florence's Uffizi Gallery.
The exhibition is entitled "The Mind Of Leonardo: The Universal Genius At Work" and showcases the Renaissance giant's contributions to art, anatomy, science and technology.
All the artist's best known themes, including movement, shape, proportion and structure, are represented among the works chosen, which include drawings, paintings and manuscripts.
The organisers of the exhibition, the Council of Europe and the London-based Universal Leonardo Bureau, claim that it throws new light on the creative process of the artist, who was born in 1452 and died in 1519.
