 Moderate quake rattles Philippines

Manila- A 5.5-magnitude quake hit the southern Philippines late on Wednesday, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The tremor struck the island of Mindanao at 9:48 pm (1348 GMT), at a depth of 59km, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicentre was 37km north of the city of Butuan and 58km south of Surigao, both on Mindanao, USGS said.
