Police rescued a 17-year-old Bloemfontein girl after she was raped repeatedly for hours by a gang of seven men, police said on Friday.
Captain Elsa Gerber said the girl could not get a taxi home on Wednesday night and decided to walk to Batho.
"Reaching the railroad (at Bloemfontein) at about 10pm she was approached by a man who confronted her about a rape case she allegedly made in April against a friend of his."
Gerber said the man was apparently joined by six others who took her cellphone and money before they raped her.
Police said after the girl's ordeal at the railway line the seven men dragged her to a house in Batho where they apparently smoked dagga and kept on raping her throughout the night.

Gerber said two Batho police members responded to a tip-off and found the girl, together with her assailants, at the house on Thursday.
"She was immediately taken to hospital as she had already lost a lot of blood and was still not well," Gerber said.
The seven men were arrested and would appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of rape and robbery.
