Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Plettenberg Bay couple last week, Southern Cape police said on Sunday.

Captain Malcolm Pojie said the men were arrested in Nekkies in the Knysna area on Saturday afternoon after Willem le Roux, 53, and his wife Julie, 50, were killed in their home in Kranshoek last weekend.

The men from KwaNokuthula have been on the run since the incident.

Preliminary autopsy results indicated that the wife was killed due to a bullet wound to the head while her husband seemed to have died due to multiple head injuries.

Pojie said police recovered two stolen laptops, a cellphone and a revolver that belonged to the murdered couple.

The firearm is expected to be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it was the murder weapon.

Police also arrested two foreign nationals for the possession of the stolen goods.

All the arrested people will appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. - Sapa
