Fifteen people, among them a police officer and a diplomat's son were arrested for speeding in Johannesburg over the weekend, the city's metro police department said on Monday.

The off-duty officer was caught driving at 200km/h on the N1 by the Olifantsfontein offramp on Friday, said spokesperson Phindani Tebeila.

She said the diplomat's son, aged 25, was caught on the same spot a day later, driving at 180km/h.

The two men were expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday along with 12 other people arrested for the same crime. - Sapa
