Charlotte van der Westhuizen's lawyer says she will press ahead with divorce proceedings to end her marriage to convicted murderer Marius van der Westhuizen.

The former policeman was yesterday sentenced to 24 years in jail for murdering his three children.

The attorney representing her, Gerhard van Niekerk, confirmed that Charlotte was intent on going ahead with the divorce proceedings and added that she had wanted to make sure that the criminal trial was out of the way.
