Out of respect for one of Islam's holiest days at the end of this month, no Malay choir troupes will parade on New Year's Day, fewer klopse are to march on Second New Year and the route has been shortened.

Troupes won't march through Bo-Kaap, a predominantly Muslim neighbourhood, until after Eid ul Adhaa (Feast of Sacrifice), Kaapse Karnival Association chairperson Faggie Carelse said. - Staff Writer
