Gauteng Police Commissioner Perumal Naidoo has been asked to explain why three boys under the age of 18 were drinking at the police staff bar at the Lyttelton police station in Centurion last Friday.
And he came under fire from the provincial legislature over the existence of a "whites-only shebeen" situated on the premises.
Naidoo, who had come to present the provincial police's performance report to the portfolio committee of community safety, found himself faced with more grilling than he had budgeted for on Tuesday.
'I call this bar a shebeen because members of the public were there' Taken to task by a visibly annoyed portfolio chairperson Jacqueline Mofokeng, Naidoo was also quizzed over the apparent racial admission to the pub.

This follows Mofokeng's surprise visit to the station on Friday after complaints from the community.
"I call this bar a shebeen because members of the public were there and it was chaotic, with loud music being played. I have a problem when a club is turned into a public facility and happens to be whites-only," Mofokeng said.
"We were told that black people have been attacked in the past at the pub, and there were none present when we were there on Friday."
Mofokeng said other stories of racism had been alleged, and these had also been passed on to Naidoo.
'We cannot keep racism going' She also complained about how she saw drunken patrons leaving the "shebeen" after the station commissioner had ordered its closure. "How do we get people to be locked up in cells for drunken driving while some leave the police station drunk and drive?" Mofokeng asked.
Naidoo has promised to look into all the allegations and promised to deal with all other ill-disciplined police officers.
In their report, Gauteng police reported a decrease in attempted murder, aggravated and common assault as well as rape and attempted rape from April 2006 to the end of 2007/08 financial year.
