The mystery surrounding what may or may not be the largest diamond ever found could be resolved later on Thursday, Creamer Media's Mining Weekly said.
Early on Thursday, a spokesperson for the unnamed company that discovered the stone claimed that a verification process had been completed, and that it had been certified as a diamond, Mining Weekly added.
Brett Jolly told the publication that the North West miners who found the stone had had it tested this week, and expected to have a certificate available on Thursday afternoon.
President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, Ernest Blom, who had shown interest in evaluating the stone himself, had not yet done so by Thursday morning.
