Gale force south-easterly winds buffeted Cape Town yesterday and overnight, leaving one of the city's major roads, Baden Powell Drive, caked with sand between Wolfgat Nature Reserve and Muizenberg.
The road was closed to traffic.
The Cape Town weather office has issued a severe weather warning of gale force south-easterly winds of up to 35 knots an hour between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas today.
These conditions are set to persist between Cape Point and Cape Agulhas until Wednesday.
