Three men were arrested after a robbery at a steel foundry in Kagiso, Johannesburg police said on Sunday.

Inspector Solomon Sibiya said three armed men confronted ADT security guards at the Chamdor steel company on Saturday night.

"They held them at gunpoint whilst they loaded steel into an ADT security van. One of the robbers then drove off in the van to go and off load the steel," he said.

One of the security guards managed to push the panic button.

"When the police arrived two robbers were still in the building and the third was returning with the van."

All three were arrested and the steel was recovered.
