Two four-year-old toddlers were raped in separate incidents in Zola, Soweto police said on Wednesday.

Inspector Kay Makhubela said the first toddler, who is also mentally disabled, was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old behind a back room at her home on Tuesday.

The girl was found dressing behind the room with the alleged rapist nearby.

When the suspect was questioned, he alleged that he had merely been playing with the child, but medical tests later revealed that she had been raped.

The second toddler was raped inside her home after her mother locked her up in the house alone and went with friends to a shebeen on Monday night.
