A modern-day Robin Hood dished out R10 000 of his loot to staff members at a 56-room Constantia mansion he robbed for a second time, police said.
But instead of the trademark green tights donned by Hood, who according to legend stole from the rich to give to the poor, he wore clothes he had stolen from the same residence in Duntor Close a few weeks ago.
He managed to get into the sprawling Constantia home for a second time on Tuesday, police spokespeson Andre Venter said. The man had gone up to a 75-year-old resident, a long-term friend of the home owners, and forced him to show him all 56 rooms.

Venter said there had been about 10 people, mostly employees, inside the mansion at the time and the suspect had made about seven of them tie one another up in a kitchen.
Still with a gun pointed at the family friend's head, he went from room to room and stole various items as they went along. Venter said after stealing from the 56 rooms, he demanded an employee give him the keys to a safe. She refused, but when he threatened to hurt her and the other employees, she relented.
Police spokesperson November Filander said the robber stole jewellery, a firearm and R50 000 cash from the safe. "(He) then asked staff members who was in need of money. He then gave R10 000 to the staff," he said.
Instead of a band of merry men to help him out, the robber then demanded that the employee who had given him the keys to the safe, drive him to Constantia Nek. She did so and he then got out the car and ran away.
