Most people would find it impossible to travel on a unicycle in Durban traffic, even with a dedicated cycling lane.
But a local photographer is determined to cycle from Durban to Cape Town for charity and to create awareness about landmine victims and orphans.
As a member of the Sole of Africa Organisation, Geoff "Heartman" Brink, 37, describes this as an epic adventure and believes that riding on a 91cm unicycle will definitely capture people's attention and highlight the plight of landmine victims.
He estimates he will have to ride about 1 700km to reach his destination.
"Landmine victims often have one leg, so the unicycle is symbolic of that. I think it will take me about two months to get there.
