Washington - A US government spokesperson has been arrested for trying to seduce a 14-year-old girl online, police said on Wednesday.
Brian Doyle, 55, deputy press secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, was arrested at his home in a Washington suburb late on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the sheriff's office in Polk County, Florida.
Doyle contacted the girl, whose profile was posted on the Internet, on March 12 and "initiated a sexually explicit conversation with her. She was, in fact, an undercover detective in Polk County.
"Doyle knew that the 'girl' was 14 years old, and he told her who he was and that he worked for the US Department of Homeland Security," the statement said.

He gave the girl his office phone number and government-issued cellphone number so they could continue communicating by phone, it said.
He also sent her pornographic movie clips and used AOL instant messaging to have sexually explicit conversations with her.
"On many occasions, Doyle instructed the 'victim,' whom he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, to perform a sexual act while thinking of him, and described explicit and perverse sexual acts he wished to have with her," the statement said. - Sapa-AFP
