Madrid - A car bomb exploded in Spain's Basque country near the headquarters of TV station ETB in the northern town of Bilbao on Wednesday without causing any injuries, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Police earlier said emergency services had evacuated the local Basque TV station and surrounding buildings following a bomb warning in the name of Basque separatist group ETA.

Emergency services found a suspicious vehicle after closing off the area and a short time afterwards found the owner of the vehicle tied up in Arrigorriaga, near Bilbao, the spokesperson said.

The person was tied to a tree on a mountain, El Mundo newspaper said.
