London - Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Wednesday accused Iran of pinning the blame for a wave of protests against the disputed presidential election result on Britain.
Brown reiterated "deep disappointment" at Iran's behaviour since the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last month.
During his weekly question and answer session with lawmakers in the House of Commons, Brown condemned moves by Iran including the expulsion of British diplomats and arrest of nine employees from the British embassy in Tehran.
"This action is unjustified and it is unacceptable and some people in Iran are trying to seek to use Britain as an explanation for the legitimate Iranian voices calling for greater openness and democracy," he said.
